Behind Locomu

Editorial Policy

Locomu is an independent resource for people looking for social media tools and practical ways to use them. Our editorial goal is to help creators, bloggers, freelancers, and small teams understand their options and make decisions that suit their needs.

This policy explains the principles we aim to follow when preparing tool profiles, comparisons, guides, and other editorial content.

Our Editorial Principles

We aim to make Locomu’s content:

  • Useful: Focused on questions readers face when choosing or using tools.
  • Accurate: Based on relevant evidence and checked before publication.
  • Clear: Written in accessible language, with important conditions and limitations explained.
  • Independent: Guided by editorial judgment rather than compensation.
  • Transparent: Clear about sources, testing, commercial relationships, and corrections.

A useful recommendation depends on context. A tool that suits a solo creator may not be the best fit for an agency managing multiple clients. We aim to explain the circumstances behind our conclusions.

How We Choose Topics and Tools

We select topics and products based on their relevance to social media work and the needs of Locomu readers. Coverage may include scheduling, publishing, content planning, creation, repurposing, analytics, collaboration, and related workflows.

A tool may be considered because it serves a specific need, supports a relevant workflow, or provides an alternative readers may want to explore. A provider may suggest a product, but a submission does not guarantee a listing or favorable coverage.

We do not aim to list every available product. Inclusion is an editorial decision and does not imply endorsement by a social media platform.

Research and Sources

We aim to consult sources suited to each claim. These may include:

  • Official product and provider websites.
  • Pricing pages, plan descriptions, and terms.
  • Product documentation, help centers, and release notes.
  • Official platform documentation about account and integration requirements.
  • Other relevant sources when they provide useful context.

We aim to identify important sources and the date information was checked where relevant. Provider descriptions are useful starting points, but promotional claims should be considered in context and should not be presented as independently verified findings without supporting evidence.

If reliable information is unavailable or sources conflict, we aim to state the uncertainty, seek further evidence, or omit the claim.

Tool Profiles and Feature Information

A tool profile should help readers understand what a product does, whom it may suit, and what they should check before using it. Depending on the product, relevant details may include:

  • Supported platforms, account types, and content formats.
  • Publishing methods, such as direct publishing or notification-based workflows.
  • Features, limitations, integrations, and relevant plan requirements.
  • Pricing structure, billing period, seats, channels, and possible additional costs.
  • Alternatives or related workflows.

A general statement that a tool supports a platform does not necessarily mean it supports every account type or feature on that platform. Where these distinctions matter, we aim to explain them.

Testing and Evidence

Locomu may describe information gathered from documentation, direct experience, or both. We aim to distinguish among the following:

  • Documented: Information supported by a source, such as official product documentation.
  • Tested: A feature or workflow has been directly examined under identifiable conditions.
  • Unconfirmed: Available evidence is insufficient to establish a claim.

When reporting firsthand testing, we aim to explain relevant conditions, such as the product plan, account type, feature tested, and date. Testing one feature does not mean that every feature of the product has been tested. We do not present documentation-based descriptions as personal testing.

Comparisons and Recommendations

Comparisons should help readers choose according to their circumstances. Where practical, we aim to use consistent criteria, explain meaningful differences, and include relevant strengths and limitations.

Pricing comparisons should identify important assumptions, including currency, billing period, number of channels or users, and features required for the scenario. A lower advertised starting price does not always mean a lower cost for every user.

When a conclusion depends on a particular use case or available evidence, we aim to make that context clear. We do not promise that a tool will produce a particular business or social media result.

Editorial Independence and Commercial Relationships

Locomu may use affiliate links, display advertising, or publish sponsored content or paid placements. These relationships may support the site, but they should not determine editorial conclusions or guarantee favorable coverage.

Relevant commercial relationships should be disclosed clearly near the associated content or link. Sponsored content and paid placements should be identifiable to readers. Providers may report factual errors, but they do not receive the right to change an editorial conclusion simply because of a commercial relationship.

For more information, see Locomu’s Affiliate Disclosure.

Updates and Corrections

Product details can change after publication. We aim to review and update content as appropriate, particularly when a change affects pricing, platform support, or a reader’s ability to use a feature.

A “last checked” or “last updated” date applies to the information identified on the page. It does not necessarily mean every claim or feature was rechecked or tested on that date.

When we identify a material factual error, we aim to correct it and explain the change. Readers can report possible errors through our Contact page. Our Corrections Policy explains the process in more detail.

AI-Assisted Work

Locomu may use artificial intelligence or other software to assist with tasks such as organizing information, generating ideas, or preparing drafts. AI-generated output can contain errors, omit context, or create unsupported claims.

Editorial responsibility remains with the people preparing and publishing the content. Claims, sources, product details, and conclusions should be checked before publication. AI assistance does not replace evidence or justify a claim of firsthand testing.

Images, Trademarks, and Third-Party Content

Product names, logos, screenshots, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We aim to use images and third-party material appropriately, with attribution or permission where required.

A product’s appearance on Locomu does not imply that its provider sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with Locomu unless a relationship is expressly stated.

Contact and Feedback

Questions, suggestions, and corrections help improve Locomu. To report an issue, suggest a tool, or ask about this policy, please use our Contact page and include the relevant page URL when possible.
